Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his first title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from March of that year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first tour title, took control to create a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
